Highlights

The paintings seen below have all been sold by the firm in the last fifteen years and represent the firm’s long-held interest in Dutch and Flemish Old Masters, and French and British pictures from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

We specialise in buying and selling paintings, especially those from private collections, and also advise on auctions, framing, conservation and valuations - in short, all aspects of picture collecting. Our rigorous selectivity in the paintings, watercolours and drawings we offer is backed up by long experience, integrity and scholarship. These qualities are also acknowledged in our active association with the museum world, with numerous important loan exhibitions of pictures from, among others, the Tate, the Ashmolean, Fitzwilliam and National Maritime Museums having been held at our galleries in recent years.

A list of the museums who have recently acquired works from us include; Musée du Louvre, Paris; National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Dallas Museum of Art; San Diego Museum of Art; Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut; Allen Memorial Art Museum, Ohio; University of Michigan Museum of Art; York City Art Gallery; Captain Cook Memorial Museum (with assistance from the NACF) and Pontypridd Historical Centre, Wales.

Our aim is not simply to sell paintings, but also to sell the idea of collecting, with all the long-term interest that it may hold for present and future generations.
