In the wake of the Van de Veldes: marine painting in 18th century England

In the aftermath of the Dutch Golden Age the works of the Van de Veldes were highly sought after by collectors, especially in Britain, and greatly emulated by artists. Most notable of these were Charles Brooking and Dominic Serres, who will be well represented in the show, and there will also be oils and watercolours by artists such as Cleveley, Anderson, Atkins and Whitcombe.
