A remarkable flowerpiece on marble by a distinguished French female flower
painter. A pupil of Cornelis van Spaendonck and trained at the Manufacture
royale de Sèvres, Mélanie moved to London in 1826 and became in turn painter
to the Duchess of Clarence (later Queen Adelaide) and then to Queen Victoria.
