This 18th century English genre painting in oils on wooden panel by Henry Walton (1746-1813), better known for elegant portraits of the historian Edward Gibbon, the art theorist William Gilpin and his own Norfolk friends is currently on display at the gallery. We have matched our mallards with a basket of hens which were sold at Christie's a decade ago.
